SITA and Cambridge University researched. They found:
1) “location sensing via mobile devices could save airlines up to $600 million by tracking passengers, sending messages and moving them to gates more efficiently”
2) “by the end of 2010, 67% of airlines plan to offer mobile check-in. By then 82% of airlines also plan to offer notification services on mobiles.”
3) at “a trial at Manchester Airport in the UK, redemption of vouchers sent to passengers’ mobile phones resulted in 45% higher spending than among other shoppers.”

“To be launched in November by M1 and Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH), the service uses cell location technology and lets advertisers reach out to M1 customers when they come within designated LBA zones (covering more than 70 shopping malls).
For a start, a retailer or brand owner along Orchard Road can send messages or offers directly to its desired customers by matching a specifically profiled database with that of M1’s”.

Tourists will search for “treasure” in the city and at the same time they’ll be attracted to various places of interest, sightseengs and shops nearby.
