Foreign tourists have invested in Moscow economy about four billion dollars in 2007. That is the number given by Head of Moscow Tourist Committee Grigory Antyufeev, reports Interfax.
According to Antufeev, four million foreign tourists visited Moscow averaging 3.4 days in visit duration. The city official said that Russian tourists are spending even more money in Moscow but he did not give any number.
In March 2008 Rosstat has presented data which shows that less and less tourists are visiting Russia. Among the reasons for decline are high prices and the lack of middle level hotels.
In rating of tourist competitiveness compiled for World Economic Forum in Davos, Russia is on the 64th place out of 130. According to British online travel guide TripAdvisor.com, the capital of Russia is one of the most expensive capitals in Europe, and residents of Moscow are described as unfriendly.
